GCSE Results 2019

Out of 39 GCSE students, 55% achieved at least a grade 4 in English and Maths.

Mark Barrow, Headteacher at Ixworth Free School, said: “We’re immensely proud of each and every student for their hard work and success in their GCSEs. Relative to their starting point, students have outperformed our expectations and achieved higher than expected progress, particularly those that have been with us since Year 7. For the third year running, students have achieved places at some of the top performing sixth forms in the country such as Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge.”

Lucas Measures

Lucas Measures is celebrating eight grade 9s and two grade 8s at Ixworth Free School, which take him one step closer to his dream of working in space as an astroparticle physicist. Lucas, who also celebrates his sixteenth birthday next week, has been Head Boy and was part of the school choir for two years, which helped to improve his confidence. Lucas is heading to Hills Road Sixth Form College to study Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry.

Lucas said: “I’m very happy with my results and they’ll help me achieve my future dream of working as an astroparticle physicist. Stephen Hawking has been one of my idols and it has been my childhood dream to one day work in space.”

Lucas’ mum Kate said: “We’re delighted for him. He has worked incredibly hard and received a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from the school.”

Emily Martin

Another Ixworth Free School student with top grades is Emily Martin, who celebrates four grade 9s, four grade 8s, a grade 7 and a grade 6. Emily also studied BTEC Craft, which includes art, design and technology, where she achieved a ‘Distinction’.

Emily said: “I’m really happy with my results and I am blown away with how I performed in science, achieving three grade 9s! This will help me achieve my dream of becoming an architect and introducing greener and more energy efficient buildings to help the world tackle climate change.”

Nicole Foreman

Nicole Foreman is “shocked” with her outstanding results, achieving 2 grade 8s and a string of 4s, 5s, 6s and 7s. Nicole is heading to Abbeygate Sixth Form in Bury St Edmunds to study Physics, English Literature and Business at A Level, with the aim of working in psychiatry.

Nicole said: “My results are much better than I thought they would be. The support from the school was really good, especially with extra revision classes. I’ll definitely miss being here.”
