When and why did you join the Seckford Education Trust?

I joined Saxmundham Free School (as it was then) in January 2018. I had heard about this “little school” that was doing wonders with their students, both from parents whose children attended the school and from friends who worked at the school. The position arose and I jumped at the chance to be part of a school that was clearly up and coming and who offered something a bit different to their students, compared to the school I then worked at.

How has the Seckford Education Trust supported your development?

Seckford Education Trust have given me the opportunity to follow my dream of teaching and have supported me in taking steps to gain a formal teaching qualification. They are keen to promote in house development and I have felt that very much myself.

Which specific aspects of the Seckford Education Trust’s CPD offer had the most impact on you?

The Trust’s CPD has had a huge impact on me. It is inclusive and very much encouraged. The Pivotal training particularly resonated with me and helped me to see a completely different perspective on working with young people, especially those that are challenging.

What would you say to someone considering applying for a job within the Seckford Education Trust?

To someone thinking of applying to work for the Seckford Education Trust I would say this: If you are looking to work in a fully inclusive environment, to be challenged every day and to be empowered to do everything you can to give young people the best educational experience then come and work with us.

Where do you see yourself in the Seckford Education Trust in 5 years?

In 5 years’ time I will be teaching Maths at SET Saxmundham School waiting for the Head of department job to be available!!
