“Practically perfect” students present Mary Poppins JR
“Practically perfect” students from Ixworth Free School presented a stunning production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins JR on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March.
The cast and crew featured almost 45 students with approximately an additional 30 involved in scenery and prop making.
Headteacher Mark Barrow said: “I’m really proud of our students and staff at Ixworth who have given so freely of their own time and who have put in so much hard work to make this fantastic production.”
Students fundraised for the production, including a bake sale organised by Year 10 prefects that raised almost £200. Daisy (Year 10) who played Mary Poppins had a sponsored silence which raised £157.
The production was rehearsed during the Wednesday afternoon enrichment periods at the School. Enrichment activities are part of the school day where all students have the opportunity to extend their range of educational experiences, helping them to discover talents by trying new things.
On Wednesday 20 March local primary schools came to a special matinee performance where the Bruy Free Press came along to take some pictures. The results were spectacular and can be purchased from https://www.photos.iliffemedia.co.uk/
